Job Title: Warehouse Operative - Port Storage Facility

Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile Warehouse Operative to join our team operating animal feed and grain storage facilities at a busy port. This unique role combines computer-based weighbridge operations with hands-on warehouse duties.

Key Responsibilities

Weighbridge & Administration

  • Greet drivers and process vehicle documentation

  • Operate computerised weighbridge system to weigh HGV vehicles and trailers

  • Maintain accurate records for stock control, traceability, quality control and billing

  • Handle routine IT tasks: managing emails, saving/forwarding PDFs and attachments, organising digital files

  • Liaise with product owners to ensure correct orders and quantities

Warehouse Operations

  • Monitor product quality through temperature checking of stockpiles.

  • Perform general housekeeping: maintaining clean stores, yards and work areas.

  • Assist with cargo handling as per customer requirements.

  • Support equipment maintenance and facility upkeep.

  • Flexibility Advantage: Operate wheeled loading shovels (up to Volvo L150 size) to provide cover during breaks, holidays, and busy periods.

Working Conditions

  • Hours: Typically 0700-1700, Monday-Friday

  • Overtime: Extended hours (0700-1900) and weekend work required during ship operations - periods of high intensity followed by quieter phases

  • Environment: Mix of office-based weighbridge work and outdoor store and yard duties

  • Safety: Full PPE environment (high-visibility clothing, safety footwear mandatory)

  • Physical demands: Moderate - includes climbing stockpiles.

Ideal Candidate

  • Computer proficiency: Comfortable with Microsoft Office level software – willing and able to learn weighbridge system.

  • Practical attitude: Willing to perform all duties from computer work to cleaning and maintenance

  • Machinery aptitude: Experience with agricultural equipment or construction plant advantageous (training provided for the right candidate)

  • Team flexibility: Able to cover various roles within our site staff
