The Role

The Mechanical Fitter will join our maintenance team based in Cork Dockyard, Cobh, Co. Cork, to maintain, repair and service equipment used by Doyle Shipping Group.

On a daily basis, the Mechanical Fitter will work with our various types of heavy plant machinery, troubleshooting faults with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems in a wide variety of situations and also proactively servicing equipment.

Summary of Position

To carry out all Mechanical fitting duties in the Ship Repair department.

Responsibilities / Principal Duties

·         Maintain, repair, service of ships, heavy plant and equipment at the Company's facilities in Cork Harbour.

·         Diagnose and troubleshoot faults with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and rectify as required.

·         Identify worn or damaged parts, carry out preventative maintenance, install components, parts upgrades and control corrosion.

·     Remove, repair, adjust, disassemble, re-assemble and replace major assemblies. Components or parts such as power and drive trains, fuel, emissions systems, brakes and hydraulics.

·         Check and refill machinery with fuel, lubricants, filters, coolants and other consumables.

·         Carry out repair and maintenance work safely and in accordance with the Company's procedures and policies.

·         Assist other employees to maintain company facilities as required and directed by management.

·         Any other duties the management may from time to time deem necessary and reasonably require

Requirements

·         Full clean drivers license

·         Time served Mechanic/ Agri Mechanic/ HGV Mechanic/ Construction Plant fitter

·         5 years experience post apprenticeship
