Cross River Ferry (CRF) is currently seeking a reliable, safety-focused, and motivated individual to join our team as a Ferry Driver / Engine Man / Deck-Handon a part-time basis, with the opportunity to progress to a full-time position.


This is a varied and hands-on marine role combining skipper, engineering, and deck duties on our busy passenger and vehicle ferry service operating between Glenbrook and Carrigaloe.


Key Responsibilities

Vessel Operation

  • Assist in the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the ferry service

  • Operate the vessel in accordance with safety and operational procedures

  • Ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and vehicles at all times

  • Maintain accurate passenger and vehicle counts

Engineering & Maintenance

  • Monitor fuel, oil, and water levels

  • Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks

  • Inspect mooring ropes and equipment

  • Maintain a clean and safe onboard environment

Customer & Operational Duties

  • Assist passengers with safe boarding and disembarkation

  • Ensure safe loading of vehicles

  • Issue and verify valid tickets

  • Maintain and reconcile cash float

  • Log and report incidents appropriately

General Duties

  • Assist with fuelling, boat care, and general maintenance

  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably required by management

  • Previous marine experience is desirable but not essential

  • Relevant marine certifications (preferred but not essential)
